The Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations 27th May 2022

Lyonsdown had a marvellous day of activities planned to celebrate HM the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee today. First thing this morning, the girls came skipping into school, raring to go in their red, white, and blue outfits.

We started with a Whole School Assembly; the girls sang a rousing rendition of the national anthem; it was incredibly moving to say the least; there wasn’t a dry eye in sight!

Shortly after this, Mrs Hall invited each class into the garden to help her plant a cherry tree to mark the special occasion. Then it was time to move to the Sports Hall, where The Fixation Academy held a fantastic drama workshop. The girls learnt to curtsey for the Queen, run like a horse and give a wave like her Royal Highness! There was plenty of energy and enthusiasm when the girls ran around working in teams.

The festivities for the afternoon continued outside in the playground. The bunting, balloons and bubbles created such excitement amongst the girls! They took their seats on the blankets wearing their beautiful crowns, and Mrs Young’s maypole club kick started the entertainment.

All the girls were treated to an exceptional Jubilee picnic box which Pat, our catering manager, meticulously pulled together. Needless to say, the red, white and blue cupcakes were a huge hit.

After the girls had eaten their delicious snacks, they were ready to have fun and do some dancing, and so were the teachers! The bubble machine was on full speed, and the music playlist soon got everyone up on their feet and enjoying themselves in the sunshine.

It really was a day to remember and a delightful start to the Half Term break!
