Inspection Report

All independent schools are inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). The report is divided into two sections. Firstly, a Regulatory Compliance Inspection, which reports on matters such as health and safety, fire safety, safeguarding and the manner in which complaints are handled. The second report is an Educational Quality Inspection, which reports on the quality of the pupils’ academic and other achievements and their personal development.

Parents can read our two most recent inspection reports in full by clicking on the links below.

In summary, in the Regulatory Compliance Inspection, Lyonsdown was found to meet all standards. The report may read as less detailed as the Educational Quality Inspection, as the wording must be made of standardised statements, but we are nevertheless delighted by the results.

The Educational Quality Inspection consists of two headline findings, with further detail provided. We were delighted that the quality of pupils’ academic and other achievements were judged as good and the quality of their personal development were judged as excellent.

Inspectors praised pupil progress, noting “their attainment in English and Mathematics is high so that they are successful in gaining entry to their senior school of choice.” The attitude of pupils was also praised, with “their exemplary attitude towards learning” and key characteristics of being “very tolerant, patient and kind towards one another” and “high levels of respect for those of differing backgrounds” coming across strongly.
