Safeguarding

At Lyonsdown School, the health, safety and well-being of every child are our paramount concerns. Our aim is to work in close partnership with parents to help their child progress and enjoy their time with us. We believe safeguarding and promoting our pupils’ welfare is everyone’s responsibility, we work together as a School team to achieve this.

To promote a safe environment for pupils, our selection and recruitment policy includes all checks on staff and regular volunteers’ suitability, including Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, in accordance with current legislation.

In accordance with our responsibilities under section 175/157 of the Education Act 2002, and in line with “Keeping Children Safe in Education“ we have a Designated Safeguarding team who have received training for this role. It is their responsibility to ensure all staff in contact with children receive child protection training on a regular basis. We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us.

The procedures we follow have been laid down by the Barnet Safeguarding Children Partnership and follow all relevant ISI regulation. The school has adopted a Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy in line with this guidance. If you would like to know more about our procedures, please speak to a member of the Safeguarding team.
