Early Years

At Lyonsdown School, the ‘Early Years Foundation Stage’ (EYFS) refers to children who are in the Pre-Reception and Reception classes. These children have similar basic needs but are different physically and emotionally.

‘Every child is a unique child, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured.’ (Source: Statutory Framework for EYFS 2014)

The EYFS aims to provide a safe, caring, enabling environment which will nurture each child’s physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs and foster the early development of enthusiasm for learning.  The School adheres to the ‘Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage’ 2014.

‘Every child deserves the best possible start in life and the support that enables them to fulfil their potential…Good parenting and high quality early learning together provide the foundation children need to make the most of their abilities and talents as they grow up.’ (Source: Statutory Framework for EYFS 2014)

“This school is special because the girls are polite and listen to the teachers.”
