We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Helen Stanton-Tonner as Lyonsdown School’s new Head from 1st September 2020.
Helen is currently Head at Holland House, a selective non-denominational prep school for girls and boys in Edgware. She brings a breadth of knowledge and experience to Lyonsdown. As well as teaching across the primary age range for many years, she has also held a variety of roles at different schools during her career. These include Head of Pre-Prep and Nurseries at Swanbourne House, Head of Francis House Prep School, Director of Studies at the Junior School, North London Collegiate and Head of ICT at Thomas’s Prep School, Kensington.
“We are very excited to have successfully secured Helen for our school as she brings a wealth of leadership experience and she shares our values and our ambitions for Lyonsdown,” says Lyonsdown’s Chair of the Board, Andrea Morley. “Following our rigorous and thorough selection process we are confident that, over the years ahead, her hard work and commitment will ensure that our school goes from strength to strength.”
Helen will also be bringing experience, knowledge and networks from her national roles with the Independent Schools Association (ISA), benefitting Lyonsdown’s children, staff and wider community. She currently serves on the ISA Executive Council, is a member of its Education Committee and is the ISA representative on the Board of the Independent Schools Teacher Induction Programme.
“Helen is passionate about all girls’ education, having been to an all girls’ school herself and having experienced working in all girls’ schools,” concludes Ms Morley. “We are delighted that she wholeheartedly shares our vision for Lyonsdown’s future as a non-selective all girls’ school with a focus on STEAM. She shares our commitment to providing a happy and secure environment where girls can thrive both academically and personally, delivering high quality teaching and learning as well as excellent pastoral care.”
“I am looking forward to joining Lyonsdown in September,” adds Mrs Stanton-Tonner. “This is an exciting time to lead the School as it embraces all girls’ education, enhances its facilities and enriches all aspects of its curriculum to ensure girls can thrive at some of London’s top selective independent and maintained schools.”
Everyone at the School is now looking forward to Helen joining Lyonsdown in September 2020. She will be closely involved in key decisions over the coming months, alongside the Board and the School’s Senior Leadership Team, and there will be opportunities for all current, registered and prospective families to meet her in the spring term.
