School Structure – EYFS
The overarching aims of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is to help young children achieve the five ‘Every Child Matters’ outcomes of staying safe, being healthy, enjoying and achieving, making a positive contribution, and achieving economic well being.
‘Early years experience should build on what children already know and can do.
It should also encourage a positive attitude and disposition to learn and aim to give protection from early failure.’
At Lyonsdown School, the EYFS refers to those children who are in the Pre-Reception and Reception classes. These children have similar basic needs but are different physically and emotionally. Good early practice will provide a variety of experiences starting from the child’s personal development and will lay the foundations for future learning.
“This school is special because the children are polite and listen to the teachers.”
